Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
Overview
PodSafe is developed by PodSafe Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17209828). We built PodSafe with privacy as a core principle: all audio processing happens entirely on your device. No audio, voice data, or transcripts ever leave your iPhone.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
PodSafe does not require account creation, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information to use the app.
If you choose to use the in-app "Report an Issue" feature, you can optionally send us free-form feedback along with the associated podcast, show, or episode context (podcast title, episode title, and the description you write). This is only sent when you choose to submit it, and is used solely to operate, support, and improve PodSafe — for example, to investigate a missed word or a playback issue. It is never used for advertising or tracking, and is not linked to your identity. Please avoid including personal information in your report description.
Information collected automatically
- Purchase information — if you subscribe to PodSafe Pro, Apple processes the payment and provides us with anonymised transaction data. We do not receive your payment card details.
What We Do NOT Collect
- Audio recordings or voice data
- Transcripts or speech-to-text output
- Podcast listening history
- Location data
- Contacts or microphone access (PodSafe uses Apple's on-device Speech framework, which does not require microphone permissions)
- Your name, age, or any other personal identifiers
- Advertising identifiers or data used for advertising or tracking — PodSafe contains no ad SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites
On-Device Processing
PodSafe uses Apple's Speech framework with the .offlineTranscription preset, which processes audio entirely on your iPhone. No audio or transcript data is transmitted to Apple's servers or any third-party service. All profanity detection and audio scrubbing happens locally.
Third-Party Services
PodSafe uses the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — for in-app purchases and subscription management. Apple's privacy policy applies to payment processing.
- RSS feed providers — when you subscribe to a podcast, PodSafe fetches the RSS feed from the podcast's server. The podcast provider may log your IP address as part of standard server operation. PodSafe has no control over third-party podcast providers' data practices.
- iTunes Search API — used for podcast discovery. Apple's privacy policy applies.
- Cloudflare — hosts our website and the "Report an Issue" submission storage. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to this infrastructure.
Data Retention
Data stored on your device (your podcast library, settings, and processed audio) remains on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app. We do not retain any personal data on our servers. The only data we retain server-side is the content of issue reports you choose to submit via "Report an Issue" (podcast title, episode title, and your description), which is not linked to your identity.
Your Rights (UK & EU)
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
Children's Privacy
PodSafe is designed for use by adults listening to podcasts with children present. The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. PodSafe does not require account creation or personal information to use the app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via the app or this page. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
